VI. Additional Features and Further Help

The following screen points out a few additional features of the NLS Investigator and shows how to seek further help.

Through “My Account” you can change a variety of settings and access previous data extracts. The main screen in this section includes a form to update your email and mailing addresses. Under “Preferred file format,” you can specify Dos/Windows or Unix as your operating system, which in turn will determine what file format should be used for your downloaded files.

Two features on the My Account screen will help you to manage your tagsets and extracts.

  1. The link “Import tagsets from the old version of Investigator” provides a utility for converting tagsets saved on the server in the old version of Investigator to the new version. If you register your new Investigator account using the same email address as in the old version, this utility will find all of your tagsets, convert them, and list them on the Manage Tagsets tab. (No conversion is necessary for tagsets saved on your PC; simply browse for the desired tagset and open it through the Manage Tagsets tab.)
  2. The “Manage Extracts” button permits you to view the status of downloads in progress (if you happened to close the automatic status window) and to view and open previous extracts still stored on the server.

Finally, the My Account screen includes buttons to change your username and password if you choose to do so for any reason.

If you have questions about the NLS data or need assistance with the Investigator, you can use the email link provided at the bottom of each page of the Investigator to contact NLS User Services.
