Some products are available in chapter by chapter form from the BLS site at http://www.bls.gov/nls/nlsdoc.htm. Because it is important to use the data in conjunction with the questionnaires and other supplemental information, users need to have access to all documentation for the cohort(s) in which they are interested.

NLSY79-Children-Young Adults
The NLSY79 Child-YA 1986-2006 Partial data release contains a subset of the comprehensive 1986-2006 Child-Young Adult dataset. This "partial release" contains the complete 1994-2006 records (including created variables) for the NLSY79 Young Adults and the following Areas of Interest for the 1986-2006 Children of the NLSY79: 1. Child assessment scores 2. Child questionnaire data: Child Supplement and Mother Supplement items 3. Child background 4. Family background 5. Maternal household composition 6. Sampling weights The following data items, which are still available through 2004, will be updated in the summer of 2008 to include information based on reports in the mothers' 2006 interview. 1. Maternal workhistory 2. Natality 3. Childcare.

The Young Adult geocode file, along with the main NLSY79 geocode file, is available on a separate CD to users who have successfully completed a geocode application and signed a confidentiality agreement with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
