Black and White Women: Differences in College Attendance Does the Rate of Return Matter? In this paper, we focus our attention on the college attendance decisions of women by race and specifically whether they respond to the rate of return. Our results suggest that both black and white women increase the probability of college attendance if they are faced with higher rates of return. We provide further evidence that early childbearing reduces the probability of attending college for both white and black women, even after controlling for family and individual background characteristics. |
