The data used in this study were from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth, 1997 Cohort. The sample consisted of 8,406 12-16 yr olds. Findings indicate that for girls, weight lowered the probability of ever having dated and the probability of dating at least monthly in the past year. It was also found that weight had an effect on sexual activity. Reporting error in weight and height is appended. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2000 APA, all rights reserved) |
